The comments below are primarily related to this section, however, there are comments that pertain to the entire document and other sections as noted. The APPIC Board of Directors appreciates the opportunity to comment on the Standards of Accreditation in HSP Revisions (Round 3) as it pertains to “revisions to language related to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).” We have reviewed the red-lined document and offer the following feedback: 1. We appreciate the Commission’s inclusion of APPIC’s suggestion to use the words “culturally responsive,” as this directly addresses the importance of attending to diverse lived experiences at a programmatic level. This is apparent throughout the document. In addition, we appreciate the use of the word “foster” to make clear the expectation for programs to “engage in affirmative efforts to foster EDI.” However, APPIC continues to support the idea of more accurate inclusive language that supports the inclusion of marginalized individuals an...
