Public Comment Implementing Regulations (IRs) D 4-7 (a) and D 4-11 Implementing Regulation (IR) D.4-7 (a). Use of Annual Reports for Reaffirmation of Accredited Status and Monitoring of Individual ProgramsTimothyStraumanCouncil of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (CUDCP)On behalf of the CUDCP board and membership, we are writing regarding the requirements for the 5 year interim report (posted at https://www.accreditation.apa.org/accreditation-process/interim-reporting). Our review of these requirements was prompted by concern that that CoA may not be fully aware of the magnitude of the task that this reporting creates for Program Directors. Because this is the first time the 5-year interim reports are implemented, we hope to work together with CoA to shape a process that is both useful and manageable to complete. Indeed, at the CUDCP Midwinter Meeting, CoA representatives underlined that the interim reports were intended to be efficient and were not intended to burden DCT time. Upon our review, we agreed that many of the required elements in the report make good sense, including the sections of the report that concern substantive changes to the program/grievances, Tables listing DSKs and PWCs, as well as the distal data. However, we are concerne... See Full Comment
Public Comment Implementing Regulations (IRs) D 4-7 (a) and D 4-11 Implementing Regulation (IR) D.4-11. Voluntary Withdrawal from AccreditationThomasRodebaughCouncil of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (Board)We thank CoA for removing the stricture that withdrawing programs need to wait within a year of their withdrawal date to inform APA. We agree with the implication of the revised text that programs can inform APA earlier but should update APA if their plans change. We would like to take this opportunity to repeat our call for further clarity about this process, especially regarding what happens to students as programs go through the withdrawal process. We hope this is the first of many clarifications that CoA will offer in the coming months.

Public Comment Implementing Regulations (IRs) D 4-7 (a) and D 4-11 Implementing Regulation (IR) D.4-11. Voluntary Withdrawal from AccreditationDanielTaylorUniversity of Arizona Clinical Psychology ProgramWe support the CUDCP Board's recent comment requesting additional detail in this IR. Our largest concern is determining at what point students will have no longer graduated from an APA accredited program. For instance, if we decide not to renew next year (i.e., become inactive), will students admitted up until that point still have graduated from an APA accredited program (assuming they complete the APA approved coursework and experiences)? This clarity will determine if we have to inform APA now of our intention in 5 years or if we can wait until the final year of our accreditation. These are important details that are lacking. It is possible that these are not the type of details you might put in IR, but they seem relevant.

I present these comments on behalf of the entire committee. CONA welcomes the opportunity to comment on the proposed Implementing Regulations (IRs) D 4-7 (a) and D 4-11 Regarding Internship/Postdoctoral Programs. “If the program will have any trainees following withdrawal from APA-accreditation, the program is asked to confirm that these trainees received advanced notice of the program’s voluntary withdrawal from accreditation.” One question is how far in advance the notice should be? 6 months, 1 year, etc.? What amount of time is reasonable to allow interns or postdocs to make informed decisions about their training? Overall, we appreciate CoA’s efforts to provide well-needed clear and specific guidance on expectations regarding AOP-compliant withdrawa... See Full Comment
